I’m always aware of just how fortunate I am not to have to fight the elements of winter the way my neighbors to the north do.
- While I am born and raised in the southern part of our country, I have some experience in just what that sort of winter entails.
And it wasn’t something that I plan to repeat if at all possible. I got transferred up north for nearly 4 years. Those winters were mostly consumed by me hiding inside the HVAC comfort of some sort of structure. My coworkers were always giving me the business because I even had a space heater under my desk. I just couldn’t ever get warm! And all that furnace heat at my house came with a fairly serious cost. Those were the highest utility bills I think I have ever paid. Granted, I now live in a region where the summer heat is brutal. And it requires HVAC cooling. Yet, I am much more comfortable being a bit to warm in the summer and managing the HVAC thermostat economically. That hard core winter was just not something that I could deal with very well. Fortunately, I now live back in a region where the heat pump is all the HVAC heating method that I ever will need. And even then, it doesn’t come on all that much because the winter is so mild. However, the heat pump does such a tremendous job of cooling the house and balancing the humidity during the worst of the summer heat. The HVAC heat pump is truly the heating & cooling solution for all seasons where I live.
