Trimming heating and cooling bills anyway possible

Living in the northern area of the country leads to some challenges.

The weather in this area is really extreme.

The temperature fluctuates anywhere from the high eighties to twenty-five below zero. We endure high humidity in the Summer months and a yearly accumulation of thirteen feet of snow during the winter. For most of the year, it’s essential to operate either the heating or cooling unit. While keeping a comfortable house is definitely important, the cost of heating and cooling adds up to approximately fifty percent of our energy costs. Due to this, sealing up the house to avoid energy waste is a priority. I take every possible precaution to reduce the workload of n the A/C plus oil furnace. It cost me a great deal to replace all of the windows in the house. I paid extra to get thermal pane, Energy Star rated options, and I installed the windows myself. I devoted extra time to carefully insulating and caulking around them to stop leaks and drafts. I also installed a new front and back door on the house and added extra weatherstripping. I’ve added ceiling fans in most of the rooms. The fans force the heat toward the floor during the Winter and encourage the heat upwards during the summer. I have also put in new insulation in the attic. To make sure the furnace plus A/C run at optimum efficiency and airflow, I am good about changing the air filters every month. I’ve also signed up for a maintenance program with a local HVAC company. A certified tech provides a comprehensive cleaning, tuning and inspection twice per year.
