Haven’t had much luck with heating

My home can have a big, ugly boiler in the basement.

  • I hated the look of it & that it took so much space up.

In the kitchen there were five metal grates in the floor. It looked excruciating & so trashy, but so I decided to cover up more than three of the grates & just leave the large 1 in the center of the kitchen. In the Summer I covered it with a carpet square so it wasn’t as noticeable. In the Winter time I just dealt with that ugly grate. Since I cut so many access points for the heater, the boiler plan had a taxing time heating our entire house. The 1 grate just did not truly do the trick. I had to invest in a ventless heating system for the family room & an upstairs electric heater. The time finally came when I decided on no more boiler system. I substituted it with a gas fireplace to kneel right in the kitchen & covered up the last grate. The kitchen does look way fancier & classier. I got a faux wood burning fire with a glass front plate. There is a little step that you can sit on to be near the fire. It is long enough that I can set up a bunch of holiday decorations. The drawback is that the fireplace isn’t all that great at heating. It frequently needs repair because it gets dirty. The remote start never seems to toil either. The amount of heating it gives off doesn’t even compare to the boiler system.
