I’m in high school and I decided to go back to school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I decided to go back because I absolutely miss being around my friends and being in class I knew that going back to school meant I have to wear a mask all day and there would be strict rules in place, but in my mind that seemed better than sitting by myself at home all day trying to get my work done.
My first day back was interesting. It was a hot day outside and I had to wait in line for my temperature to be taken before entering the building. I wondered if the heat would make it seem like I had a fever. All of my friends had their masks on so it didn’t seem too weird to wear one. I got through my first few classes and teachers helped us keep everything clean. After lunch, I walked up the stairs and it was hard to breathe because it was so hot in the hallway and the mask made it harder. I got into my classroom and realized it was super hot in this room on the third floor. My teacher apologized many times and said her air conditioning has been acting crazy all day. She said that she sent an email to have someone come fix the air conditioning. I think she said that the person who fixes the air conditioning is called an HVAC technician. My classmates and I were so hot and my teacher opened the windows to try to make it better but it was so muggy and hot out. We all kept wishing that the A/C would magically turn back on.
