It’s hard trying to keep leaves and pine needles out of HVAC condensers

Yard work is terrible.

Whether it’s mowing the lawn, raking leaves, or trimming trees and foliage, I never enjoy the time and effort it takes for landscaping labor.

Plus, whenever spring rolls around and segues into summer, the amount of work I have amplifies. It marks the time of the year when my grass starts growing again and the trees start to fluff out with an abundance of leaves. I also have to check my roof and the siding of my house after the ice has melted, making sure there are no water leaks that would pose a threat during the mid to late summer rainy season. Although this year I was spared any roof or home repairs, there was one thing that hit me with fury instead. Every year during this time, our pine trees drop their needles and pine cones which collect in our yards and roadsides. Sometimes they get lodged into car tires or bicycle spokes, but the worst part is the needles themselves. I keep having to remove needles from my HVAC condenser, so much so that the motor almost seized up during a normal cooling cycle the other day. It was daunting to think there was no way to prevent these tiny devils from entering the inner machinery of the condenser unit without choking it off too much where the air flow is restricted. To my amazement, there are products available that stretch over your condenser unit like a large hair net, with mesh large enough for steady airflow but dense enough to keep out leaves and pine needles. It was a game changer with my yearly yard work and maintenance.
