I can’t stand my new office

The boss of the company that I work for just built me a completely new office.

I have been advancing through the company, and he felt that it would be better for my self-esteem that I have my own office. Apparently, I had earned the privilege of having my own space. However, the only problem with my new office is that it doesn’t have HVAC units to keep me comfortable. Apparently, when they were constructing the office, they didn’t consider how they were going to tie in the ducts for the furnace and the air conditioner that kept the rest of the building warm. Our building was a large brick building, and you cannot easily get HVAC ducts to connect to additions built on this building. However, nobody mentioned the HVAC problem to my boss, who had all of my stuff moved in. The lack of HVAC units isn’t a huge problem when the door to my office is open. Since it is a brick room, it insulates heat and cold very well, so I don’t lose it easily. The furnace and air conditioner can condition the room through the open door. However, when I close my door, I cut myself completely off from the HVAC units in the building. In the summer, it means that my room gets a little stuffy, which isn’t bad. However, in the winter, my room becomes freezing cold without a heating system. I am going to have to convince my boss to purchase a small air conditioner and a small space heater for my room. I am also considering a ductless mini-split air conditioner. That would accomplish both goals.
