The expression that heat rises never actually made sense to me.
I guess the reason is that I always lived in a 1 story house.
I did not honestly get that heat rose until I bought our first up-to-date home that had a cabin living room. There was just 1 floor, but you could go up a ladder as well as be in a little living room/cabin hidey hole. I thought the little living room was super cute as well as immediately set up our stuff there. It was love a secret living room as well as I liked how it was tucked away in a corner, then well, 1 Winter time season changed our opinion. I ran our furnace program to the maximum setting. No matter what I did our house felt icy cold. I ended up setting our furnace to around 70 degrees in order to suppose somewhat warm. Then every evening I would sweat buckets in our little high rise living room. I could not have a single sheet on me, any clothing as well as would still sweat to death, but since the living room was just a little floor with a mattress on it, I could not hook up a cooling system. I also did not want to run an a/c while I had the furnace going. It was horrible sleeping up there. I finally had to supply up our little hidden living room. I removed that loft, upper floor as well as just made the house 1 story. This way when the heat rose, the whole house felt the same to me. Ideally, having the heat not rise would be best. But, I am just glad that I no longer sweat buckets at evening.
