I don’t think there is anything more unnerving than when you know you will have to deal with a problem when you get home. It doesn’t matter how lousy the job may be, you almost hate to see your shift end, because you know what is facing you when you walk in the door. You know you will have to work on the problem, the second you walk in the that door. When it is HVAC problems, it makes it even worse. Now, your air quality has been compromised, and you aren’t even coming home to a perfectly heated or cooled home. I knew for a while that I had problems with my thermostat. The temperature reading had been off for quite a while. I thought the HVAC company should be able to just adjust the thermostat, so that it was right, but they disagreed. They said the thermostat was old, and all they could do was to replace it. I may make decent money, but thermostats can be very expensive. I refused to buy a new one and I already knew that if my thermostat read sixty-eight, it was probably about seventy-five. When my thermostat read eighty when I got home that night, I knew that it was time to get a new thermostat. The thermostat was no longer telling my AC unit when to turn on. I called the HVAC company the next morning, and they told me they would bring out several thermostats to choose from. I didn’t want to do this, but it sure was nice to have a thermostat that actually worked and told the AC when to turn on.
