I was lucky I graduated high school, let along planning on going to college.
I was able to get a job right out of high school and I was making some pretty good money.
The problem is that since I wasn’t the brightest, I had to settle. I ended up working for a freight carrier, in the warehouse. There wasn’t any heating or air conditioning in the building. There wasn’t even any HVAC in the bathroom, and that made for a cold place for doing any kind of business. During the summer, you could maybe catch a breeze through an open transom window. I worked nights, so I at least had it a bit cooler than those that worked in the daytime. During the winter, there wasn’t anything that was able to make it more comfortable. Without heating, you just froze, and we all know that night time temperatures can really plummet. After about three years of putting up with this, I decided it was time to do something different. I didn’t want to see anyone else suffer with heating or air conditioning. I started taking classes for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. It took almost a year, but I graduated at the top of my class, and I passed the HVAC certification test on my first try. I put in my notice to the freight company and I was ready to start working for a HVAC company. Now, instead of working without HVAC, I am able to install and repair HVAC systems, so no one finds it necessary to be without. Best of all is that if I have troubles with my own HVAC, I am able to fix it.
