Let it snow, let it snow

There is nothing more exciting than the first snowfall of the season, unless it is the first real snowstorm of the season.

Excitement comes in many forms whether it is the excitement of opening gifts for Christmas or a birthday or the excitement of events that could be a bad situation.

Being an HVAC technician and HVAC company owner, I enjoy the flurry of excitement that comes with the first snowstorm. I have those people who have been putting off having their furnace or other heating equipment cleaned and prepared for winter. They want us to put them ahead of our true emergencies because they are excited over the idea of possibly going without heating while it is snowing. We also get the excitedly unhappy people who call because they are afraid their technician has not done a good job with the maintenance of their heating systems. I worry about some of the elderly people who don’t get excited about anything until the emergency strikes. I try to instill it into my technicians that if someone calls for an elderly couple without heat, I would like them to try to give that call a priority. My parents are elderly and I would like to think that if something were to happen to their heating that someone would get to them as soon as possible. I have seen too many disasters with elderly people because they are proud and think they are able to get through anything without any help. I feel that as an HVAC technician and company owner, I have a responsibility to take care of those who have taken care of us.
