As I was growing up my parents were easily frugal.
They did not like to spend a lot of money on crazy things, instead they invested their money and saved for their retirement; I am thrilled they were like this, it helped teach me the value of money and in turn I don’t like to spend money on things I don’t need.
I rarely go shopping for clothes and I entirely don’t make luxurious purchases unless they are entirely needed. It is nice to not have to worry about money now, I save most of what I make and the rest just go to rent and bills. I don’t have a lot of bills either, so I feel entirely fortunate. I remember when I was younger I would watch my friends parents spend money on the craziest things. They would buy nice cars and jewelry, however my parents consistently told me those things weren’t crucial, however once afternoon I was going over to play at a friends condo and when I arrived there was an Heating and Air Conditioning truck outside the house. I thought maybe they were having problems with their a/c, however instead I learned they were having radiant flooring installed. I had never heard of radiant flooring and was intrigued, but so my friends Dad explained that radiant flooring was a way to heat the floors with pipes running underneath the floorboards. That is why the Heating and Air Conditioning truck was at their house. They were having the piping for the radiant floors installed. I entirely wish my parents would get radiant flooring installed in our house, but I know they never will!
