I had some good and bad experiences when I was in college for sure.
On the one hand though it was easy to find a group of friends compared to high school.
I met students around me within the first few days of moving into my dorm room. The way the dormitories were designed that year it basically made it hard to avoid getting to know the students that lived around you. All the doors would open up to common areas outside. And there were picnic benches and chairs in those common areas as well. So we developed a tightly knit group of friends and we had all sorts of adventures together partying during the first year of college. It was fun on the one hand, but I also had some emotional experiences trying to date. It’s hard to date when you’re in college and everybody’s just focused on the long-term future instead of trying to find something to do right here and right now. I also had a college dorm room with a really bad heating system inside living in a region where it gets cold outside a lot. It’d be one thing if I had been going to college in the South but this school was in the northeast. We really needed a good heating system to get through the winter season, but every month we asked, the administration would avoid us. By the time I got to my second year college, I was living in a different building where the various central heating systems were much better.
