New home HVAC troubles

My friend Claudia got to build her home last year.

  • As her friends since junior high, we promised to help her implement some of her DIY installations for the house to save money.

We wanted to DIY the HVAC unit, so we went online to seek quality HVAC systems that would fit the house. I went on Reddit to ask for input from other homeowners, and most comments warned us of the idea of doing an HVAC installation for ourselves. We did get recommendations for HVAC brands we could self-install, but most reviews told us to hire an HVAC professional for everything. It was clear that there was the only way to avoid the cost of hiring an HVAC provider for the installation if we wanted to avoid buying new HVAC equipment sooner than we wanted. Since everyone had their tasks to assist with, and I was very invested in the HVAC, I decided to visit the local HVAC business for better input on what we could help with indoor comfort without breaking the budget. I’ve only had to deal with an HVAC repairman during HVAC maintenance, so I had no idea where to start the consultation, but luckily, the expert took the lead. I was already intrigued by all the new HVAC technology options available at their shop, so I knew I had to take my time before making a decision. The window shopping was followed up with a property inspection where Claudia linked the heating and cooling expert with her contractor so they could figure out the plan. Our extensive research and effort paid off because the system was installed within our budget, and we got an additional feature we had not thought about: a smart thermostat.
