I was lying in bed last week, and I thought I could hear the furnace running. It was normal for the furnace to cycle on and off, but it wasn’t normal for it to turn on and not shut off. I laid there for several hours; listening to the furnace running. I was counting the dollars going out the window as the furnace continued to run. I knew the cost of fuel, and I was sure I could hear the oil tank draining along with the furnace running. It wasn’t just the fuel that was being wasted, but our electric bill was going up. I got out of bed the next morning, and called the Heating as well as Air Conditioning dealer. I told them I had listened to our furnace run nonstop for the last several hours, but it still wasn’t up to temp in the house! They had an Heating as well as Air Conditioning dealer at the house within two hours. When the Heating as well as Air Conditioning dealer arrived, he checked the temperature control before looking at the furnace. He told myself and others that if the temperature control isn’t working officially, the furnace won’t work officially. They need to communicate to each other to keep the temperature regulated. He said there was really a problem with the temperature control and headed to his repair to get a up-to-date 1. It took him a couple of hours to connect the temperature control. Within hours, the furnace had shut down. The Heating as well as Air Conditioning dealer stuck around long enough to make sure the furnace turned back on when the temperature dropped, and that it turned back on when the temperature got up to max. I would have never thought a temperature control could cause so numerous problems with the furnace.
