The HVAC system broke down during my company’s Christmas party

My company just had its yearly Christmas party, and as usual some employees took extra advantage of the open bar.

The party was private and held at a fancy bar, and we had over 150 employees and spouses that attended.

While the party was fun and it was nice to see my coworkers relaxed and in a different environment, it didn’t go over without a few hiccups. As mentioned, there were employees who were overserved, so they were removed from the party early and sent home to recover. Additionally, there were a few accidents on the dance floor including some broken glasses and spilled drinks. Another thing that went wrong during the evening was that the HVAC system of the bar went down. While it was a bit chilly outside, we noticed that inside the bar was really warm. With over 150 people packed inside a space, of course, all that body heat would raise the temperature. After a few complaints about how hot it was inside the bar, our HR Manager addressed the issue with the staff at the bar. And that’s when we found out that the HVAC unit had broken down. It was too hot inside, so I retreated to the outside to get some relief and soon after, there were probably more people in the parking area than inside the bar. I am not sure how situations like these are resolved for restaurants and bars, but it’s not good for business if they don’t have a working HVAC system. Besides that, the party was a blast, and I am already looking forward to next year’s.
