There are plenty of moments in my life where I really do have to pinch myself when it comes to the good fortune that I’ve been able to experience.
I come from a background where I didn’t even have residential HVAC growing up.
I think everyone I knew had residential HVAC back then. The heat pump was a necessity for all the central air conditioning in that region. The heat and humidity down there are pretty serious. Our house was in a very rural area and we had little to no amenities at all. We had a small wood stove for heating. But in that region you don’t need much call for heating. But during the summer, dad would put a window air conditioner in the upstairs just so we could all sleep a bit cooler. I’m not at all ashamed of my family or the way I grew up. Now I have a big house in a gated community and there’s even a garage apartment. It’s awesome to have a space for when guests visit. When we bought the house, I didn’t even go inside the garage apartment. We used it mostly for storage. My wife thankfully decided to change that and we call the HVAC company. They came out to put in a pair of ductless heat pumps that produce outstanding heating add air conditioning. We fixed it up real nice to the point that it’s now almost my private little treehouse. I love how the old oak trees around it make me feel like I was in a treehouse but with great quality heating and air.
