Converting the shed to airbnb

I thought my husband had quite the hare-brained scheme the past couple of years, but now I am eating my words.

With housing prices at an all-time high and a greatly competitive rental market, it turns out that we may have a nice little rental property in our very own backyard.

Of course, I am talking about my hubby’s desire to turn the little steel building in our backyard we use for storage into a small rental property. I thought there was no way anyone would live there, but now times are tough. As such, we’ve been renovating the shed for a few weeks. We quickly realized that climate control would be of the utmost importance when it came to comfort. As you would imagine, a shed does not have a good amount of ventilation or insulation. This means it is severely susceptible to being overheated or severely cold, depending on the local climate. The two of us knew that we wanted to install a powerful, but energy-efficient HVAC system into the structure. Our solution came in the form of two mini-split ductless heating and cooling systems, One for the ground-level and one for the loft area above. Once we installed these HVAC systems, we were surprised at the level of comfort we enjoyed inside the shed, no matter what the temperature was outside. On chilly mornings or hot afternoons, the climate control system keeps things nice and comfortable. We could certainly now make this a small rental property, even though I could happily live in this mini ductless HVAC system setup myself.
