I have a lot more job security working in the HVAC industry

I had little to no job security working in my old job.

We had a high turnover rate and practically everyone was replaceable unless they had endured at least five or more years of work at that particular company. It’s hard to feel secure about your employment status when your employer makes you feel like you’re dispensable. I looked far and wide for new employment, but it took a few years of misery at my old employer’s company before I found a replacement job. At least I feel like I have some sense of job security at last, in no small part because I’m now working in the HVAC industry. No matter what climate you reside in, you’ll always be in a high need for either heating, cooling, or both. The HVAC supplier that hired me trained me and helped me get my certification. I’m much happier working everyday now that I’m a heating and cooling technician. My favorite part of the job is installing residential heating and cooling systems in homes that are being built. You don’t have to deal with any homeowners because the only other people present are other contractors who are busy with their own tasks. It makes for a much easier job without the added stress of having to listen to a disgruntled homeowner who has no respect for personal space as you’re trying to install their brand new heating and cooling system. Regardless, I’m just thankful to be working in the HVAC industry where I finally feel like I have a role to fulfill.
