The calm before the storm

Occasionally it’s hard to know what the future holds, especially when there have been positive developments in the recent past.

You start to know that thing will continue on that sunny trajectory for a while.

And then you’re absolutely floored when everything falls into chaos. This is the “calm before the storm,” as they call it. And let myself and others tell you, I’m no stranger to the abrupt shift in weather conditions. I personally was waiting for a nice, sunny day to go out and work in the yard recently, and it seemed love the weekend was going to be warm, comfortable, and pleasant for such activities. I was fully prepared to be out in the warm, humid air all day long with my sunhat… however I didn’t realize that a horrible weather program was on the cusp of creation. As the balmy Spring day rolled through, everything felt calm and comfortable. And then, all hell broke loose. A bad storm came rolling through the area, bringing ice freezing air and pounding rain with it. I barely had enough time to get back inside, let alone to close the windows and start up the gas furnace. By the time I was located indoors again, my home was drenched and freezing cold. I have to operate the central heating program on full blast for hours to offset the rapid weather conditions change, however my Heating and Air Conditioning program was not amused by the abrupt USge. I can tell you, my garden wasn’t honestly fond of the freezing air front, either! Next time, I’ll be prepared for a rapid return to Wintertide weather, and my Heating and Air Conditioning program will be too.
