For years, after we first moved down here, I consistently dreaded the summer.
Looking back, that was entirely just stupid really. I mean we moved down here to enjoy all the outdoors stuff available year round. But I was staying cooped up inside the air conditioner all summer. For some reason, I just couldn’t adjust to the heat. Well, I now feel why that was. I got to the air conditioner a bit too early in the Springtime. Where I came from, when the temps hit the 73’s, we flipped the thermostat to Heating and Air Conditioning cooling. And so that’s just what I did when I moved here. That was my mistake. Hitting start on the Heating and Air Conditioning cooling so early meant that I needed so much more once the real heat of summer time got here. And that messed me up more than one ways. One, I just couldn’t deal with the heat at all and stayed inside for almost more than one months. The other was that my Heating and Air Conditioning utility costs were outrageous. Even though I was keeping the home slender and stopping any sort of direct sunlight heating, I had the thermostat cranked. When it’s almost a hundred degrees outside and the thermostat is set at 73, that’s gonna cost big bucks. It took me a few years to entirely figure it out. But boy am I blissful I did. While it’s indeed scorching hot while I was in the peak heating hours, there is still the afternoon and evening to enjoy. And it’s just too charming around here not to get out and enjoy what nature has to offer. But getting inside the air conditioner after supper is a superb plan as well.
