My wife wanted a smart thermostat to go with our new HVAC system.
I wasn’t excited to spend a lot of extra money on a thermostat when our programmable had been doing just fine, but she was insistent. Instead of causing a rift over the thermostat, I gave in and bought the smart thermostat. I’m not saying that I didn’t like the idea of the smart thermostat, what I’m saying, is that I didn’t like the smart thermostat. From the first time we had the thermostat installed, I had trouble. There was no way I was able to decipher the rules and regulations of how to set up this new thermostat. All I knew, was that I had to pull out either my smart phone or my tablet, and install an app, and then I should be able to use my new thermostat. The problem with all this was that my wife had a smartphone, and I had just a plain old tablet. There was nothing smart about my tablet or my computer. Now, my wife had all the ability to change thermostat settings when ever she wanted and I had no say in it. I have to admit, that she was nice enough to not set temperatures that was going to either freeze me out of my own home or boil me alive. I still believe that my wife and I could’ve made do without a smart thermostat, however, it made her happy so what else can I say. I can only hope that one day I am able to figure out how to use the smart thermostat as well as she can.
