We change the air filter in the HVAC unit monthly.
Even if the air filter doesn’t look dirty, we still change it to something new. We use a filter that is specifically made for allergens and dust. The air filter is almost as good as a HEPA air filter, but it is half the cost. We ran out of filters a couple of months ago and I decided to order some online. I ordered the same size air filter that we normally use in the system. I ordered a box of 12, because I found a really good deal on the filters. When the box of air filters arrived, I immediately removed one so I could change the air filter in the HVAC unit. Strangely, the new air filters are a bit small for the area where they are supposed to fit. The old air filters fit snugly in the spot, but the new air filters wiggle and move around. I asked my wife if she wanted me to send them back, but she said we will make do with them. We bought a box of 12, so we’re going to be stuck with the small size for a while. I honestly think it probably is a better idea to send them back, but my wife doesn’t want to go through all of the hassle to ship them back to the distributor and then wait for a refund. We would additionally need to order new air filters and that would take a week as well.
