I’ve tried my hand at living all over this country and a few other spots on the planet.
My career allowed me to do that so I got to see so many different regions and countries as well. All that moving around also allowed me to experience just about the entire spectrum when it comes to weather. Now, I never lived above the arctic circle so I don’t know about all that. But I have learned a lot about different weather, temperatures and HVAC. What’s sort of ironic is the fact that I ended up coming back to about an hour from where I was born and raised. I am spending the end of my career in an office equipped with zone controlled HVAC. It’s not too bad. Still sort of weird to not be out in the field any more because that’s where I flourished. However, corporate called and I answered, so here I am. It’s also ironic that the place that I couldn’t wait to get out of has the best weather of them all. When I experienced a real winter with gas furnaces and boilers, I got some indication of just how good I had it growing up. Now, I’m actually thinking retirement right here where it all started. That’s wild. But I love the fact that we have such a mild winter that the heat pump doesn’t even kick on all that often. And being a native of this region, I know just how to manage the heat as well. The summer comes with plenty of HVAC cooling. But the other 8 months are just heaven on earth.
