Don’t need all that much air conditioning

There seems to be this whole thing that if the temperature manages to get above 75, you must crank the Heating and A/C cooling down to roughly 65.

Seriously, I know so many people who do just this.

It’s crazy to me really. I just don’t understand that type of mindset. Granted, we live in a region where the heat is a pretty substantial deal from mid May to almost the end of September. And I’ll be the first person to say how grateful I am for our heat pump and the Heating and A/C cooling it brings about. Not only that but the Heating and A/C cooling process balances the humidity in our dwelling so I’m not dealing with a huge amount of mold & mildew regularly. But I also don’t fork over what essentially amounts to a serious car payment each month simply to over cool our dwelling. Living in this region during the warmer months is more about mental and physical preparations than it is about Heating and A/C appliance cooling. You see, when the temperatures around these parts start rising about mid March, I don’t turn on the air conditioning appliance at all. Instead, I begin acclimating to the heat and just residing with uncomfortable temperatures. This way, when the temperatures soar and stay near a hundred degrees for numerous weeks straight, I need a whole lot less air conditioning to feel comfortable. Of course, I make sure that the air conditioner appliance tune-up happens and I keep the dwelling nice and tight. This maximizes the Heating and A/C appliance efficiency. But I keep our thermostat in the mid 70’s during the tremendous heat and then bring it down to a comfortable level for sleeping during the night. And it doesn’t cost me as much as getting a modern car.
