Local printing service gets into custom label printing

Having been around the printing business for a while, I am always amazed to see the latest advances in printing technology.

My wife and I started our printing service nearly 3 decades ago.

Printing has been good to us as we were able to raise a family and we almost have them all through college. Our printing service was initially totally focused on the local printing needs of our community. And we found a steady market with our decorative solutions and commercial printing. With the changes in printing technology, a small business like ours could consider getting into something like label printing. This was a part of the printing business that had been the strong hold of the big corporate printers. But with the new stuff, we saw that we could take a stab at shifting our business to a more regional concept. While we still loved and thrived on our custom sign printing and other decorative solutions, this new venue was a very lucrative option. So we invested in the latest, most versatile, space saving equipment to be able to compete with the big boy’s price point. Leveraging our own design capacity allowed us to approach regional companies about label making. The Bepop, HIX and Gerber technology were the reasons we could even attempt to do this. This equipment is the latest and allows us to do both large run and short run label making. We hope to be spending more of our energy landing the bigger accounts that were simply not available to us before. Having the ability to reduce lead time and alter design on the fly was so advantageous. We could spend more time actually getting out there and selling.
