Always chilly when I go home for the holidays

After university I moved down south & never regretted it. I like the Summer heat & that it doesn’t snow. I like the friendly people & the beach being so close. I still have to go up north for the holidays though. It smells buying an high-priced plane ticket to kneel around in a cold condo because it is Christmas, and my family is hardcore since they have lived in the north their whole lives. The winters there can get down to the drawback twenties. My parents hardly can feel the cold anymore. In the fall our mother refuses to turn on the heating system system. Since Winter time is so long, she is trying to keep the daily bills low. She only will allow many weeks of heating. That means the gas gas furnace doesn’t turn on until September & instantly turns off in March. September 31st & May 1st are very cold days in our family household. Even when the heating plan is on, it is set to a very low temperature. I frequently complain & whine to our mother all of Christmas. I have to bundle up in blankets & sweaters in order to not freeze to death. My parents hardly notice the cold anymore. For Easter it is always a shell game, occasionally the north has snow on the ground & that is better for me. I get to have heating when I go home. If the sun is out & the northerners consider it good weather, off goes the heating system even if it is in late March that year.
