I’m so glad that I can breathe fresh air again.

We hadn’t been using our air conditioning for a few days because the outside temperatures were perfect, however, we had just turned on the air conditioning due to a temperature increase, and whatever died in our ductwork was emanating a horrid stink that was coming out through the air vents.

I’ve been working from my home for the past 8 weeks. It’s been genuinely nice, because all of my work can be done from my laptop, which I move around the house depending on how I’m feeling. The other day, while I was working from the chair in my den, I caught a whiff of something really stinky. I paused what I was doing, and inhaled deeply. Although it was odd, it smelled almost like a hamster house. None of us own any hamsters or any rodents at all for that matter. I got up from the chair and sniffed it. It wasn’t the chair. I got down on all fours and sniffed the carpet, but that wasn’t it either. As I began sniffing everything in our den, it hit me what I was actually smelling. Something had died in our ductwork. We hadn’t been using our air conditioning for a few days because the outside temperatures were perfect, however, we had just turned on the air conditioning due to a temperature increase, and whatever died in our ductwork was emanating a horrid stink that was coming out through the air vents. I called my husband instantly and told him about the air duct situation at hand. He was skeptical about what I was telling him, however I convinced him to hire an HVAC technician right away. Sure enough, they found a dead mouse hidden in the ductwork when they came to examine our heating and A/C system. I’m so glad I can breathe fresh air again.
