Our camping trip gone wrong

The air temperature quickly shifted and suddenly the temperature dropped 20°.

When people ask me what I love to do in my spare time I usually respond that I love being outdoors, no matter what that entails, and I am happy if I can go out on any kind of hike, walk, or photography session. I love having picnics and simply sitting in nature. I really find the trees, birds, and aroma of dirt to be calming and attractive. Normally the next question they will ask is my penchant for camping, and to be honest, I hate camping. When I was younger I remember going on the most miserable camping trip you could ever imagine. It was the dead of Summer and the outdoor air temperature was seriously hot. It had been ridiculously humid for many months already. We were living at the mercy of our thermostat and big central cooling unit. Without the air conditioner even the indoor air was stagnant and oppressively hot. When we made the choice to go out camping, the air temperature was no better. In fact, it felt more hot and humid outside because there was really no refreshing breeze that day, and as such, we were wearing light tank tops and shorts. Just as we settled down for the night it began to downpour. The air temperature quickly shifted and suddenly the temperature dropped 20°. We did not have any supplies prepared for this ice-cold night. After we were drenched in sweat and rain, we froze all night long without a single source of heat or dry wood for a fire. I will absolutely never camp again.
