Sometimes I really wish that we were more technologically savvy people.
Admittedly, I am not super up on gadgets or new technological development. I prefer to live my life simply and enjoy the analog things around me. However, there are times that I can acknowledge we would benefit from having more high-tech home solutions for our heating, cooling, and deleting problems. Many of my friends have previously installed smart thermostats and smart lighting into their homes. They insisted that they enjoy having this added level of control over their indoor appliances. Everyone says that it lowers their energy bills and keeps their home far more comfortable to have smart appliances at their fingertips at all times. I’ve never been a big believer in smart thermostats or the necessity to control my central HVAC settings from anywhere on Earth. However, after this most recent air conditioning debacle, I might be starting to change my tune. A few weeks ago we decided to go on vacation as long as everybody was working from home. Unfortunately, we forgot that the air conditioning system needs a vacation as well. Before we left, we intended to turn up the air-conditioning settings so the cooling system would get a break. I guess nobody remembered. Once we did remember, it was too late to turn down the AC system. We returned home to an ice-cold house and an astronomical energy bill. This easily could have been prevented if we had a smart thermostat. Not only would it have reminded us to turn down the AC settings, but we could have accessed the smart application from anywhere on the planet.
