Protecting a/c and gas furnace from pollutants

I have more than four cats and they shed regularly, then i sweep, vacuum and dust just about every morning. I clean the litter box every other morning. I worry about unpleasant smells, dangerous bacteria and unhealthy air quality. I also have problems over the reliable operation of the gas furnace and a/c, and as a forced air system, any buildup of contaminants within the inner workings causes inefficiency and added wear and tear. If airflow becomes restricted, the heating and cooling unit ends up running longer, working harder and yet providing diminished comfort; The bigger workload increases the chance of malfunction and shortens repair life. I consulted with a local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C provider and asked for suggestions, however she recommended that I replace the air filter in both the gas furnace and a/c every month. She said that even if the plan isn’t operating, the fitler is trapping allergens such as dust and dander and becoming clogged. She also strongly encouraged me to enroll in a proactive maintenance agreement with her supplier, however with this agreement, a licensed worker services the gas furnace in the fall and the a/c in the Spring. She takes the equipment apart and completes a thorough inspection. Any worn or broken parts are fixed or replaced. She makes sure wires are respectfully connected, motors thoroughly lubricated, belts in nice shape and refrigerant charged. She also meticulously cleans all of the components to promote maximum efficiency and superior indoor air pollen levels. I’ve also added a whole-condo whole-house air purifier to help capture airborne particulate. The whole-house air purifier traps over 90% of bacteria, dust, dander, mold spores and even eliminates unpleasant smells.
