We had a ton of yellow jackets in our yard this summer

This summer, we ended up finding a ton of yellow jackets in our yard.

When you are someone who is as afraid of bees as I am, finding even one yellow jacket in your yard is a good enough reason to stay inside all day. But we found swarms of yellow jackets out in our back field when we were getting ready for a big family cookout. That made it even worse. There’s nothing like a bunch of kids getting stung by bees to ruin a family get together! When my son and I were putting out all of the chairs and picnic tables for the cookout is when we started to notice the yellow jackets. My son knows that I am deathly afraid of bees, hornets, wasps, and anything else with a stinger, so he didn’t tell me that he had seen them at first. But then when we were putting the tablecloths on, I started to notice them myself. At first, I only saw one evil yellow jacket buzzing around the table, so I froze and just hoped that it would fly away. But then, several more came up next to that one, and that’s when I took off running for the house as fast as my legs would carry me. My son came in too, but he was laughing because he’s not as scared of bees as I am. I got to the house and I thought about cancelling the cookout all together. I didn’t really want to do that, though, because we had people coming from out of town. Instead, I called up a local bee eradication and extermination business and told them that I had an emergency!
