orses are really amazing animals, plus no ranch or farm would be complete without a horse! There are horses used for all sorts of things on a farm, however sometimes horses are too fragile, and one thing about them is that they fare better in cooler weather.
I live in the south but I purchased a horse who had lived farther north, so I constantly worried a little about my horse during all the hot summer time months, but I really didn’t want my horse to get heat exhaustion or something! Because of that, I have decided to add a cooling component to the horse stall in the barn.
The barn already has a fan in it, but I am afraid that just won’t be enough to cool the place off come June. I believe I am going to get a portable a/c component to install in the barn. One thing I could get is something called an evaporative cooling machine! An evaporative cooling system works like a whole-house cooling system. The cooling system will pull in the hot air from the barn, and then the hot air is pushed over these wet pads where they are cooled before being recirculated. I have electricity in the barn, and that’s all I need for the portable a/c unit to work. I also believe that the humidity levels will be better regulated in the barn. The dehumidifier will help the horse regulate its own internal thermostat so he doesn’t get boiling hot in the summer. Some people may believe it’s much too fancy to have a cooling system in a horse stall, however my horse is just like a part of my family, plus I count on him to help me and my family out on the farm. I have to take care of his health all the time!
