While getting a quick and easy deal on some cheap HVAC parts and technology, I would be careful as to where you get those parts from.
Take it from me, as I’ve learned the hard way.
I thought I was being sly, by skipping past all of these expensive HVAC part repairs and just buying a much cheaper part online that was guaranteed to be working and new. My air conditioner needed a new compressor, as the one it had wasn’t working all too great. I found someone selling a cheap compressor online that was like new. Most compressors cost over +1,000 to have installed, but the one this guy was selling one for $650, and If I could manage to install it myself, I could save a bit of money. Upon receiving the compressor, I noticed it looked a little funny, but I didn’t think too much about it. Installing it wasn’t that difficult, as I had an uncle with experience that helped me. I turned on my a/c unit and…nothing. There was virtually no change, and if there was a change, it was for the worst. I tried to last the week without the a/c producing cooling air, but I eventually admitted defeat and found a HVAC business to look at the cooling system for me. Apparently the part was incredibly old and had been used, now it was barely working but sold as if it was brand new. I was angry and disappointed at the money wasted, especially since I still paid $1,200 for the proper replacement of the compressor. At least after that I had a working cooling unit. Never again will I buy HVAC technology online unless it’s from a credible source.
