I went downstairs to clean up the playroom before my husband got home from work
My daughter was downstairs playing. I heard her singing a song I hadn’t heard in a very long time. She began singing, ‘Love is Just Around the Corner’. I remembered my grandmother singing it to me when I was just a young girl. I asked her where she had heard that song before and I told her.that it was my Granny’s favorite song. She told me that my mom had sung it to her and she really liked it. I forgot that mom was down here playing with her a couple of days ago. I had to laugh when I saw her peeking around the furnace so she could look at me when she was singing. She held the furnace like I used to hold onto the piano. She would go from one side of the furnace to the other so she could peek at me again. She began to laugh when she told me that the furnace wasn’t quite a corner but Grandma said it was good enough. We had a good time that night as we played down in the playroom. I forgot about the work that I had to do upstairs and I stayed downstairs until it was my daughters bedtime. I went downstairs to clean up the playroom before my husband got home from work. I grabbed one of her dolls from behind the furnace as I began to sing ‘Love is Just Around the Corner’ and I thought of Granny. I was startled and I laughed even harder when I realized it was the furnace turning on. I had forgotten that it was supposed to get colder tonight.
