Most of our laboring life has been spent laboring on projects out in the field.
I only had to come to those Heating and Air Conditioning controlled offices in order to attend strategic meetings or plead our case on particular details.
This had been our preference for the balance of our career. It was a good life filled with travel plus turning plans into action. Each time I was asked to join the group at headquarters, I politely refused noting that our place was in the field. Then, I got married. It happens to most of us I suppose. My wifey plus I hit it off instantly plus it was as though the people I was with and I knew that the people I was with and I were destined to spend our lives together. However, that meant the life on the road was over for all practical purposes. I was faced with the prospect of joining those at the corporate offices. While our bosses were happy, I was not looking forward to it at all. During every trip to the offices, I could literally suppose the tension in the air. There was so much active hostility that even an outsider enjoy myself and others could suppose it. This was one of the reasons why I did not want any area of that environment. Those people conflict over everything plus all of them are just waiting to stab each other in the back. They even conflict over the Heating and Air Conditioning setting. I told our main boss that I would happily join the corporate offices if I could get our own space as far away from all the people else. I didn’t want to be involved in all the political mess, I just wanted to do our job. I also asked him to install a smart temperature control that could not be manually operated by anyone but him.
