I come from a family of money. Due to this, I knew I would be able to invest in any business I wanted to once I graduated from college. I got my four year degree and I ended up investing in an SEO business. I am the CEO of the search engine optimization company. I figured my four year degree would be enough to know how to manage my team, encourage sales and have a successful business. I was totally wrong. After a month of being way over my head, I decided to do something about it. I could not ask for help from the team or even from my father. I needed outside assistance to guide me in the right direction. I ended up going to business leadership workshops to get business coaching. It was like getting business counseling really. I got to talk to fellow professionals who are successful in their fields. I was given strategies on how to properly lead a team. I gathered how to provide good, consistent feedback that was actionable and positive. I also learned how to encourage the team to get more sales in order to generate revenue. Turns out some of the business tactics I was trying was actually counterproductive. I was offering a whole team bonus if one portion of our crew was able to achieve something. This causes resentment among the ranks and pressure. Not a good idea at all. The business seminars were so helpful and I got a lot of reading material from it. I hope I can now be a good CEO to my team members.
