Living in a small apartment has its pros and cons when it comes to heating and cooling

I lived in a two story house for almost fifteen years, and when my husband and I decided to move to a different city and rent an apartment, it was quite the change.

I had to get rid of so much stuff. It was sort of a good thing though because it made me realize how little I used many of the things that I had. They were just collecting dust and taking up space. We moved into a two bedroom apartment, and it felt so tiny at first. Our other house had four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so it was quite a change for us to move. We have lived in the apartment for about five months now, and I think that I am finally used to it. It is so much cheaper to heat and cool our tiny apartment. When I first got the electric bill, I almost fell out of my chair in disbelief. I could not believe how cheap it was. It was literally a fourth of the price of our heating and cooling bill for our other house. Of course, it makes sense since the apartment is so much smaller, but I guess it just had to hit me. The only thing that really bothers me about the apartment is how hot it gets. I have the thermostat set to sixty-eight degrees, but it is usually around seventy-five degrees in the house. I do not know why. I am going to try to set the thermostat around sixty instead, and I hope that it will cool down in the house a bit. I still would not go back to living in a big house just for the cooler temperatures though. I really like having a low electric bill.
