The season of saving money

I seem to always expect outrageous energy bills through the Winter and summer seasons.

Despite the fact that I don’t live in places as cold as northern Canada or AK, I can still count on cold winters for years on end. I make use of our fireplace as often as possible, but I had to supply up chopping wood by hand a few years ago after a shoulder and back injury. With wood supplies in our immediate space always waxing and waning while demand soars through December till May, I can’t always expect to have timber for our fireplace. That leaves me to burn some more natural gas to power our central heating system. This fuel is expensive for the most part, so more often than not I try to put up with the serious temperatures with more clothing, but this only works in varying degrees. I am always excited for March every year to mark the final end of Winter and the oncoming summer season. Unfortunately, I get only a handful of weeks of Springtime weather before the heat waves set in and force myself and others to crank down our cooling system every single moment just to stay cool. Throughout the year, the only time when I have some respite from constant Heating and A/C use is during the brief Autumn season. In our area, this is respectfully from the beginning of August until the first snowfalls in early to mid August. My energy bills are always at their lowest and I feel comfortable from the time I wake up in the morning until I fall back asleep at night. I just wish the Autumn placidity would last me much longer than just a couple of weeks every year.
