Not much room on the farm

Growing up, my siblings and I were genuinely poor.

  • There were lots of times that we were in a very small apartment instead of a huge house.

My parents had a genuinely small budget from which to grab money, and the two of us had places definitely small for our large family. The two of us didn’t really mind sharing a large room with many siblings, but there were a few occasions when the two of us were crammed uptight. When my brother and I were Seventeen, our parents decided to do something about the lack of space. The shed was made into a small room, though the outdoor temperatures were frigid freezing. The building could not have a normal heating, ventilation, and air conditioner. The two of us were usually freezing during the time when we moved over to the shed building. Fortunately, the two of us had parents that provided us with a small area oil furnace. During the day, the non insulated shed was usually cool. Between a bunch of blankets and an oil furnace, some of the heat hastily stayed inside. The two of us usually had the area oil furnace running while the two of us were sleeping. It wasn’t very extravagant, but it saved us from sleeping in six or eight different pairs of jeans. The summer months weren’t too bad, as the lack of air conditioning it didn’t bother most of us at all. My brother and myself were happy to be in a space of our own, even if that meant dealing with some of the outdoor elements.
