I have dealt with a lot of different heating systems in my short life.
- I remember when my family and I moved into our first house.
My parents were dirt poor and could not afford proper heating equipment for awhile. We got by with space heaters for a long time. I remember eating cereal with the space heater sitting on the table. I had a space heater in my bedroom and there was a heater pointed at the bathroom piping. After my parents got a little money they updated to a boiler system. The boiler was gotten on a deal and the house was set up for it anyway. There were many holes in the living room floor with a metal grate over the top. The boiler system was in the basement and then the heat rose up through the grates. I used to sit on the main heating vent right before the school bus came. It was not so hot that you could not touch it, as sad as that sounds. Once I was in high school the boiler system was booted out. The metal grates were filled and we had a complete living room floor. My parents then were able to spring for a gas fireplace. The fireplace is still in their home and is the best heater they have owned. It doesn’t always turn on and makes horrible noises when heating. But, it is a vast improvement over what they had. Maybe by the time I have kids my parents will have a decent working heating system. Perhaps they will have one that actually provides good heating.
