When I was a child portable a/c was not easy to move… Our home air conditioner required our father, sister plus uncle to move it, but the only room in the modern home that had the wall space for the A/C method was mine, and i hated housing that big A/C unit, first, all our bookshelves had to be removed to make way for that tall, ugly system! All our books had to be put in a storage basket plus lay for the entireboilingseason, but next, the air conditioner leaks water steadily. I had to keep a basket to collect the water or I would wake up to a real wet carpet. The worst was our family with the cooling method though, however my father wanted the modern home to be -20 degrees in the summer. The A/C method was cranked to the lowest setting at the highest fan speed. My dining room got so cold at night that I wore a sweatshirt plus pants. I also was not permitted to shut our door. The cooling component was blowing cold air for the whole house, so our door had to remain open no matter what. Anytime I dared shut it I got yelled at by our father; Changing into a swimsuit or worse out of it, in a chilly cold room with the door open was rough. That portable A/C unit was a single of the worst things about our childhood. It was a beautiful afternoon when our family upgraded the home to central a/c plus got rid of the big machine.
